ABC 2011 Pilots: Which Dramas Do YOU Hope Make It?

It's that time of year again where the TV Gods bestow upon us new shows to become runaway hits, obsessive watercooler guilty pleasures, or simple, craptastic duds to be shunned like a public stoning. Either way, it's pretty much Christmas season for TV fanatics as networks are filming pilots for the upcoming 2011-2012 Fall TV Season, and, if we must say so ourselves, there a lot of pretty interesting concepts being packaged right now at the multiple networks this time around. The pickings are so intriguing that we here at TVOvermind want to know which pilots YOU are hoping the networks will pick up for their fall lineup. Below is a list of drama pilots in contention for slots on the fall schedule by network and genre. After reading over the pilot titles, we ask that you go to the TVOvermind Forums and vote for the pilots you hope make a particular network and why. We will reveal the highest anticipated pilots in a later post, but it's all up to your participation in this poll.

So let your voice be heard, choose the pilots you wouldn't mind making the cut, and pray like hell that your picks make it to series this fall. Nothing super bad will happen if you don't, but still...

First up, ABC!!!!

Hallelujah

The latest battle between good and evil lands in a small Tennessee town, where a stranger appears to help keep the balance in check. This potential series is from the mind of Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry and has Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order, "Rent") and Frances O'Connor (Cashmere Mafia) attached to star.

Charlie's Angels

The latest revamped show to hit the scene is the pop culture staple Charlie's Angels, which is set in Miami this time and follows a whole new crop of sexy, female detectives. Drew Barrymore, who starred in the two big screen versions of the film, is attached to exec produce and the show has Minka Kelly ("The Roommate"), Annie Ilonzah (General Hospital), Rachael Taylor, and Ramon Rodriguez as Bosley attached to star, with Robert Wagner as the voice of "Charlie."

Pan Am

The Mad Men-esque drama that revolves around the Pan-Am airline, which was the best way to fly back in the day it seems. Expect high drama in the possibly not so friendly skies with Christina Ricci, who is attached to star.

Georgetown

First, he gave us The O.C., then he took us to the Upper East Side in Gossip Girl, while fighting bad guy spies in Chuck. Now Josh Schwartz is taking us to Washington D.C. with a drama about 20-something professionals in the D.C. area. The fact that James "Jimmy" Wolk (Lonestar) and Katie Cassidy (Melrose Place, Gossip Girl) are attached to this is enough for us to beg for it to be elected into office on ABC's schedule. Surely some of you agree...

Good Christian Bitches

The name of this show already has the PTC shouting before seeing the first frame of the potential drama, but there's a possibility there could be a name change for the soap in the future. Set in Dallas, the show follows a recent divorcee who, with her two kids, moves back into a neighborhood the features... well, good christian bitches. Based on Kim Gatlin's novel of the same name, this pilot stars Annie Potts (Any Day Now, Designing Women) Leslie Bibb (Popular, Crossing Jordan), Jennifer Aspen, Marisol Nichols and Miram Shor.

Damage Control (Formerly Titled In Crisis)

The Shonda Rhimes pilot which is based on the life of PR specialist Judy Smith is one of the most talked about potential dramas on the docket. The drama stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Price, the head of a PR crisis management center, as she juggles her private life and her dysfunctional staff, who have issues of their own. Other notable cast members include LOST alum Henry Ian Cusick, Columbus Short ("This Christmas", "Stomp The Yard"), Guillermo Diaz (Mercy), Liza Weil, Darby Stanchfield, Jeff Perry (Nash Bridges), Katie Lowes, and actor/director Tony Goldwyn.

Identity

From the outside, "Identity" sounds like another basic police procedural with the unit specializing in identity theft in this scenario. But with a cast with Angela Bassett (Alias, "Meet the Browns"), Orlando Jones, and Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), this U.K. import could be the hottest cop show since CSI came on the scene.

Missing

Think Taken: The TV Series with a female lead this go around. Ashley Judd is attached to star as a former CIA agent and mother, whose son has disappeared during a summer internship in Europe. Maybe she should call Liam Neeson for tips on this subject or, better yet, bring him along as muscle. Instead, she has Sean Bean and Cliff Curtis as back up. Wonder how that will pan out?

Poe

Set in Boston during the 1840s, this historical drama will feature Edgar Allen Poe solving mysteries with methods that are puzzling to those around him. Chris Egan (Kings, "Letters to Juliet") will star as the eccentric author with Kevin McNally, Leslie Odom, Jr, and Tabrett Bethrell rounding out the cast.

The River

From Oren Pell, the man who gave us "Paranormal Activity", comes an adventure story about the friends and crew of a man who goes missing in the Amazon during one of his many adventures for television. The crew and friends decide to look for their friend on their research vessel, which seems to have all the bells and whistles to make fan boys drool. Could this be LOST's successor for ABC? So far, Bruce Greenwoood (John From Cincinnati), Eloise Mumford, and Joe Anderson are attached to star.

Revenge

A remimaging of Alexandre Dumas's "The Count of Monte Cristo", this drama involves Emily Thorn, a mysterious woman who comes to the Hamptons to settle a score with the people, the Graysons, who ruined her family. The drama has been described as a dark soap and if that's the case, then The Hamptons is a great backdrop for such a series. Ashley Madekwe (The Beautiful Life) is attached to play  a close friend of Emily's and an employee of one of the protagonist's targets with Madeline Stowe coming on board as one of the Grayson clan members.

Combat Hospital

Think China Beach meets the Afghan War with this one since it revoles around a military-medical hospital in Afghanistan, and the nurses and doctors who staff the place. The show has a 13 episode commitment and comes from Canadian broadcaster Shaw Media, who was responsible for last year's ABC Summer hit Rookie Blue. Michelle Borth is the first person attached to star.

Once Upon A Time

From the minds of LOST writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis comes a show that modernizes the fairy tales we've all come to love and even features fairy tale staples like Snow White, Prince Charming, and an Evil Queen. Ginnifer Goodwin, fresh off her regular stint on Big Love, will star as Mary Margaret Blanchard, a woman who was an extraordinary background. Maybe it has something dealing with the Snow White portion of the show... Josh Dallas, Lana Parilla, Jared Gilmore, Jamie Dornan, Raphael Sbarge, and Jennifer Morrison (House) are all attached to star. With the minds of Kitsis and Horowitz behind this fantasy drama, expect a lot of the fantastic awe that made LOST must see TV.

Grace

Grey's Anatomy writer Krista Vernoff delivers a tale of about a family who's issues and drama plays out on the backdrop of the world of dancing. Does this mean we will get to see some Black Swan type craziness on the small screen? One can only hope... Eric Roberts (Crash), Chris Carmack (The O.C.), Sherri Saum (In Treatment, Gossip Girl), Chantz Simpson, Abigail Spencer (All My Children, HawthoRNe), Patricia de Leon, Robert Hoffman (Vanished), Anabelle Acosta, Eion Bailey ("Band of Brothers", "Fight Club"), and Debbie Allen ("Fame," A Different World)

Partners

The last drama pilot fighting for greenlight to series is a police procedural starring Annie Wersching (24) and Scottie Thompson (TraumaNCIS, "Skyline") as two detectives who are as thick as thieves, which is due to the fact that they are sisters. Only thing is that no one else knows about this familial bond. Uh-oh... Kenneth Mitchell (Jericho), Scottie Thompson (Trauma, NCIS, "Skyline"), Frances Fisher ("The Lincoln Lawyer", Days of Our Lives), Michael Beach ("First Sunday", The Game), Larry Gilliard Jr. (The Wire), and Nestor Serrano are attached to star.

Now this is where you come in, reader. Vote on which of these pilots that you are dying to see on ABC this fall. After you vote, we would like to hear why you made your choice in the comments section or in our Forums!

After ruining her flagship show Grey's Anatomy over the past few seasons, never accepting any blame, her Twitter belligerence to fans concerns and an overall one note way of writing to all shows she's involved in, not to mention the fact she has now proclaimed that in terms of Grey's Anatomy, she is going to be "breaking the promises" she made to fans concerning this show. I no longer trust, nor am willing to invest in any Shonda Rhime projects in the future. I will see Grey's Anatomy through, not because of how Rhimes has botched it, but because of the amazing cast, including Sandra Oh, Justin Chaebers and Patrick Dempsey, but I will not be dumb enough to EVER invest in another one of her projects from now on.

  2. Sean says:

Out of ABC's lineup I am most looking forward to "Partners" – it sure would be nice to see Annie Wersching back on TV regularly again! Just a small correction though, Frances Fisher plays the mother, not a detective. Scottie Thompson plays the other half-sister/detective alongside Annie Wersching. I hope this show gets picked up!

  3. JP says:

Um, you didn't include REVENGE as one of the options to vote for… FAIL.

  4. Rodney says:

Charlie's Angles – Minka Kelly in a bikini.  Simple enough.  I would also like to see Partners and Good Christian Bitches make it.

  5. andrea says:

hello vote for partner to see Annie Wersching back to tv

2 question: when will the results of the survey?

this survey you will send to ABC?

    bye

  6. Bj says:

I'm all for seeing Annie Wersching back on tv but out of ALL of those premises, Partners is the most formulaic, standard affair that is usually cranked out by the networks. Why am I not surprised that's in the lead in the poll?

  7. Sally says:

I'm looking forward to Once Upon A Time and hope it will make it!

  8. Kate says:

Partners all the way!  It's supposed to have a lot of comedy in it and be more about the characters than your typical cop show – a lot like Castle, The Mentalist, and Chuck which are my absolute faves!
