Michael Ausiello just broke that the top writers from ABC's LOST are reuniting for a new "top secret" project, which they are hoping to pitch to ABC soon.
Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (former executive producers and writers of LOST) are working on a "fairy-tale themed drama" that is ready to be pitched to ABC Studios for contention in the 2011-2012 pilot season. Another bonus is that Damon Lindelof himself will serve as a consultant (but only if the pilot gets the green light). All three writers have development deals with ABC.
Ausiello also says that there is word of a female lead, but didn't say whether she would be the focal point or will serve as the equivalent to a male lead such as the Matthew Fox/Evangeline Lilly chemistry from LOST.
Rumors are saying that the project could be the long gestating Fables comic adaptation, which ABC has had the rights for. Fables is a comic about fairy-tale personalities trying to blend in our world after being exiled from their own world by "The Adversary", who has conquered their home, which is called the Homelands. I could see this project getting adapted, but would it be a good fit on ABC? Keep in mind, though, that the Fable bit is only a rumor.
While this news itself is exciting, the most interesting thing to come out of it is the backlash from fans of LOST who are still to this day non too happy about LOST's series finale, "The End", which aired back in May. Some fans have decided to not tune in and have resorted to name-calling in the comments on the article. So we ask you, readers...
Are you happy to hear that Horowitz, Kitsis, and Lindelof could be possibly back in business? Or are you still calling for their heads on a couple of sticks?

I'm frothing with happy anticipation! This is fabulous news and I hope like hell it comes to be.
Lost was great, and I'd much rather have new stuff from the real writers of Lost than other people trying to create the "next Lost!"
very true
I hope its not an adaptation of Fables or any existing property. If its an original show about real people in the real world experiencing "fairytale" like event, than that sounds like an awesome show.
ABC doesn't own Fable – WB does (through DC) – ABC bought a script of the project last year but that doesn't mean abc owns the property
LOST & its writers gave us the most creative and emotionally written stories for years. (People who think otherwise should just watch different shows where one genre is clear and where the story isn't as complex as LOST's. They clearly didn't understand what LOST was about if they didn't like the finale) I CAN'T WAIT for this. now please cast the entire LOST cast again and I'll be happy.
Really. I saw every episode, in order, at least three times. I discussed it in depth with many people over the years. I played the video game. I read the tie-in novels, and numerous articles, online and in magazines about the show, I even subscribed to the LOST magazine. I read numerous interviews with the cast and crew. I defended it against all the people who gave up on it, or didn't give it a shot, or badmouthed it, saying they writers were making it up as they went along. I loved the show. Then about halfway through the last season, it started becoming clear to me that those people were at least partially right. The writers had no intention of keeping the promises they had made to the viewers, by giving satisfactory answers to the questions they had raised. The ending was sappy and simplistic, and a cheat. I enjoyed it on a certain level, if only because I knew at that point that the answers were never going to come. I'm grateful for the hours of enjoyment I got out of the show, despite my disappointment. But it's ridiculous to say that you have any better understanding of what the show was about than me, just because you liked the finale more than me. As for complexity, anybody can craft a complex story, if they have no intention of resolving the issues they raise. When you watch CSI, would you be satisfied if they ended every episode scratching their heads because they couldn't figure out what happened? Of course not. A story sets up a situation, throws in a few mysteries here and there, then begins to reveal, until at the end, the audience completely understands what happened during the course of the story. So tell me, what was LOST about?
you're working off the assumption that the writers promised to answer the questions that YOU raised. how can you possibly expect showrunners and writers to answer every single question that every single fan raised over six seasons? get a grip.
LOL don't act as if Darlton didn't create those questions on their own. They kept on telling the audience to look for clues, to dig deep and in the end it meant nothing. So maybe you should take a grip.
The article is also slightly offensive. Just because people didn't like the finale, doesn't mean they are the bad ones. There is a lot of backlash from the finale lovers too, they keep on laughing at people who didn't like the finale. And they will gush over any project Damon or any other Lost related writer will be part of it which is bad too. It goes both ways.
This doesn't sound like a good show to me.
*sigh* with these guys it'll start off incredible and have a convoluted and pointless ending…
I agree with the comments of people who decided TO NOT WATCH anything written by lost people forever. Fox/Lilly chemistry? Horrible.
dude, you skaters are still at it? really???
Fantastically excited! The End was only wholly unsatisfying to fan boys who wanted their theories regurgitated back to them in a bullet-list style unemotional finale. I loved it so much that it catapulted Lost's complete body into my favorite work of all time. I can't imagine it being surpassed. However, in a world of douchebag showrunners *coughHartHansoncough* I openly embrace ALL THINGS Damon Lindelof and Co. Not sure Lilly/Fox's chemistry can be matched. I remember their scene in the Pilot episode 6 years ago when she stitched up his side. Pop culture was immediately abuzz with the pairing. I can't wait to see DL attempt to match them though!
To the Lost finale haters….did you enjoy the journey? Yes you did, so stop complaining. The finale satisfying everyone was an impossible task.
No one expecting everyone to be happy. That is a ridiculious statement. What was expect is exactly what was promised several times by the creators, answers. Finally in the end no real answers were given. If that is how they wanted to write it fine! But don't lie to your audience before hand and claim that there will be answes when clearly that was never the intent. A lie is a lie is a lie. It is insulting and deameaning to an audience that put faith in what they were promised only to be used for ratings. Obviously you don't think honesty and integrity are important in art, I strongly disagree.
First, The island is done and finished, but perhaps… The Dharma Initiative discovered other locations like the Island? If good writers pulled together and really put their heart and soul into creating another "LOST" series, then it could be done and done well, as long as it's a completely new story, with new characters, in a new location, and a QUALITY product is their key focus, instead of "LOST" dollar signs. Secondly, Just call the new "LOST" series "LOST." Don't give it sequel title. That's my contribution. Good luck!
Also, Why not just enjoy the show? Stop crying about what questions were answered and what questions weren't. Guess what? I have a lot of questions that I want answered in real life, but that's not gonna happen. Now, if you want a show to be exactly the way you want it, YOU WRITE IT. They wrote a phenomenal story and I loved every minute of it.
