LOST's Matthew Fox Cast in New Alex Cross Movie

LOST star Matthew Fox seemed determined not to take on another role in a long-running television show after the ABC drama ended its six year run, but that doesn't mean he's out of the acting game.  I recently read that he's starring in a play and now Deadline reports that he's been cast as the villain in a new movie.

I think it's safe to say, thus far, that Fox has had more success on the small screen than the big screen.  Two of his most recent movies - Vantage Point and Speed Racer - weren't exactly hits.  But that could change now that he's joining the reboot of the movies centered around James Patterson's character Alex Cross.  Cross has been the main character in two previous movies: Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider.  Morgan Freeman previously played the character and I thought Kiss the Girls was a great movie.

Now Tyler Perry is stepping into the title role in I, Alex Cross and Matthew Fox will take on the role of Michael Sullivan, a killer known as the Butcher of Sligo.  After Cross thwarts one of his crimes, Sullivan (spoiler if you haven't read the book!) kills Cross' wife (end spoiler).

This role will certainly be a departure from Fox's  role of hero, Jack Shephard, on LOST.  Ed Burns will also be starring in the movie as Cross' partner, Tommy Kane.  Deadline reports that the movie will contain a few twists that weren't in the original book.
