Pretty Little Liars & Secret Life of the American Teenager Renewed

It's ABC day at the Television Critics Association mid-season press tour today.  Earlier today we announced that six ABC shows had been given renewals for additional seasons.  Now, news comes from ABC Family that two of its shows will also be given another season.

The first is Pretty Little Liars.  This show, based on a series of young adult books, debuted in the summer and was a smash hit for ABC Family.  So much so that it only aired 10 episodes in the summer, went on hiatus for the fall, and premiered again on Monday nights last week to finish out the remaining 12 episodes of its first season.  Pretty Little Liars has been wildly successful, pulling in terrific numbers for ABC Family.  The network has announced that the show will return for a second season.  No word on timing, but since the show has done so well on Monday nights during the regular season, we can probably assume the second season won't be airing in the summer and will instead debut in the Fall of 2011 and air as a regular show.

The other announcement concerns The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which has been renewed for its forth season.
