First Trailer Premieres for A&E's Bates Motel

We finally have our first look at A&E's new series Bates Motel that covers the early years of Psycho killer Norman Bates. When we last checked in, Freddie Highmore had been cast as the young Norman, and now in this first trailer, we get to see him in action.

It's a mix of footage from the show and interviews with the cast and crew. In addition to Highmore, the secondary star is Vera Farmiga as Mama Bates, and I have to say, she looks far better NOT as a corpse.

I'm just not sure exactly what this show is about? It's a small town, and it's sort of eerie, but I can't really put anything together past that. I get the concept of creating a mystery before the show airs, but I'm not sure "confusion" counts as mystery.

What do you think? Will A&E live up to their cable network brethren and produce a hit here? I'll tune in to find out.
