More than a month after its second season finale, A&E has announced a third season renewal for The Glades, its well-reviewed crime drama that takes place in south Florida. The show will return for another 13 episodes summer 2012.
The Glades centers on Chicago detective Jim Longworth (Matt Passmore, McLeod's Daughters) forced to leave his department after being accused of having an affair with the boss's wife. He moves to a small town in Florida, ultimately joining the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE); however, all isn't sunshine and margaritas, as the area turns out to be quite dangeous and a true test of his police skill. The show also stars Kiele Sanchez (Lost), Carlos Gomez (Desperado), Uriah Shelton (Alabama Moon), Jordan Wall (My Future Boyfriend), and Michelle Hurd (Law & Order: SVU).
The success of The Glades has helped A&E step into the world of scripted television, as the network renewed Breakout Kings for a second season earlier this year and picked up a western named Longmire (co-starring Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff, among others) set for launch next year.
How did season 2 of The Glades compare to its debut season two summers ago? What do you hope happens when the show returns?
