I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show turn itself around in season one quite like Agents of SHIELD, where it went from a relatively mundane procedural to one of the most must-see shows on TV by the end. By working within the larger Marvel universe, the events of Captain America: Winter Solider turned the entire series on its head, and revealed one of the most shocking twists in TV history in the process. I’ll save that until you watch it for yourself. And please do.
In any case, Marvel has just debuted a new trailer for season two of the show. It’s only thirty seconds and doesn’t really hint at the upcoming plotline at all, but it’s still good to see the gang back in action. They’re trying to pretend like the show has permanently lost a team member, but I think we all know that isn’t the case. Outside of that, I didn’t catch a glimpse of Lucy Lawless’s new agent character, but hopefully she’ll have a pretty major part this season, rather that being a guest star alone.
It will be interesting to see where SHIELD goes from here, not just for the trajectory of the show, but of larger Marvel universe. I believe the next Marvel film will be Avengers: Age of Ultron, so SHIELD has to steer toward that in some way. I also wonder if they’ll do any sort of Galaxy of the Guardians crossover, given that its the hot new Marvel property, and the last film in the MCU. Can you imagine Chris Pratt’s Star Lord on SHIELD? How amazing would that be? The movie steered almost completely away from Earth, however, so perhaps that isn’t in the cards.
What do you want to see from Agents of SHIELD season two?
