American Idol Controversy Continues: Blame AT&T? Nah!

att-logo-parentalTwas 'Ace Young Syndrome' that killed Adam Lambert's chances.  It is difficult for anyone coming out of Hollywood to get a home-town movement going.  Being a starry-eyed celebrity hopefull in the 'wood is passe - Ace Young sufferred from the same home-town apathy.  But incredulous Adam Lambert fans are demonstrating a willingness to believe anything that lessens the sting of their American Idol's loss.  Here's the latest urban legend:

AT&T sent operatives to Kris Allen voting parties to teach them how to "powertext," which is effectively sending up to ten texts at once.  Since AT&T is a sponsor, this is an improrpriety that should disqualify Kris Allen and give the American Idol title to Adam Lambert.

Here's the problem:  it's not true.  It may be true that AT&T was out in the fandoms teaching people how to vote on their network; why wouldn't they?  What better sales pitch to Idol fans than "With your phone, you can only vote once per call.  With our network, you can vote ten-times-per-call!"

What is untrue about this is the fact that AT&T was not the promoting force behind powertexting, the fans were.  In fact, you can see a post here on a Kris Allen fansite well before the finale explaining how to powertext.  You can also see one here on an Adam Lambert fansite, also before the finale.

Whether powertexted votes should be counted or not seems like an issue that would have been considered well before the finale, since both sides were clearly using the practice before the finale.  The bottom line is, though, it was the disparity of people pushing the buttons that cost Adam Lambert the title of American Idol, NOT the influence of AT&T.

Congratulations, America!!! Just like Florida stole the presidency from Al Gore, Arkansas stole the title from Adam Lambert. AT&T not only helped voters in Arkansas power text but distributed phones already set up for free. One poster from arkansas absolutely confirmed that there's no way Adam could win with what was going on in Arkansas that Tuesday night. Krisallenation site confirmed this as well where they were congratulating themselves for outsmarting the system.

How can Arkansas, with a population of only 2.8 million cast 38 million votes? Well, if AT&T can help 1 person in Arkansas put in 45,000 votes, then anything is possible. Not only that. AT&T also helped voters in Arkansas votes in different time zones. Means, votes placed from Arkansas could easily top more than 50 million but distributed as coming from other states. It's so sad that this smeared The AI Kris Allen who he himself admits it's Adam who deserves to be The American Idol. But never mind. Adam is The WORLD'S Idol. If only international fans could vote, there's no doubt ADAM wins by a landslide.

It's better that Adam ends up as runner up than be a questionable winner all your life. it's a pity it had to happen to Kris.

Kris WON,get over it all ready,it just goes to show, hillbillies learn quickly.Adam should come out a make a public statement, that Kris won fair and square, they both had the same chances. PLUS,Kris was never in the bottom 3.

It doesn't really matter who "won." Kris Allen is a "nice" singer, not a great singer and will have moderate success. Adam Lambert is a phenomenal singer who will be wildly successful. So enjoy your "win" Kris Allen fans but know that guy who came in second will have success that Kris Allen can only dream of having.

I know that there is some irregularities with this one…

there's NO possible explanation to this other than the AT&T support

because obviously, Kris has lesser number of fans but most have AT&T and some free AT&T phones from AT&T themselves. It was written in a blog that Arkansas was successful in putting 38 million votes for the Finals… How did they do that without technical enhancement if its only 4 hours of voting?!

And California is not all for AT&T, which also limited its voting power.

the whole thing is dumb… Dial Idol (a service that measures busy signals to determine the winner beforehand, and has never been wrong) predicted Kris Allen would win. He had more telephone votes…

so youre saying somehow, that Adam Lambert would have won due to text? doubtful

and where in the world did you get some stat that 38 million votes came from Arkansas? I HIGHLY doubt nearly %50 of the votes came from one state.. that sounds like something someone made up..

    get over it
