American Idol's Pia Toscano Inks Record Deal With Interscope

Pia Toscano was the most controversial elimination on season 10 of American Idol, a show known for the "shock" boot that gets viewers talking. Toscano, long considered a favorite to make a deep run in the contest, ended up bowing out in 9th place, though she was able to perform on Dancing with the Stars a short time later and had the support of fans of big ballads and diva vocals everywhere.

That support eventually formed into rumors that Toscano was already signed to Interscope Records, ran by Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine and featuring the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, and No Doubt. It turns out that those rumors had some truth to them, as Entertainment Weekly reports that Pia Toscano has officially signed on as the newest artist on Interscope. Her single is said to be debuting July 12th with an album to follow in the fall, presumably in the October-December window that Idol finalists typically find their debuts.

Toscano isn't the first finalist to sign, as both season 10 champ Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina signed deals with Mercury Nashville shortly after the finale. Other finalists like Haley Reinhart are assumed to be signed, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The season 10 idols will be kicking off their 45 date summer tour on July 6th in West Valley City, Utah.

Do you think Interscope is a good label for Toscano to sign with? Are you looking forward to Pia's album? Which Idol finalist should sign next?
