Steven Tyler Promises American Idol Duet

Every season of American Idol has one, and this year's rocker James Durbin has snared a unique honor. Not only has Durbin impressed an American Idol judge with his rockin' chops, that judge, as it turns out, is an icon in the 'rocker' genre himself, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith - and Tyler is so impressed he's promised to give Durbin what some might consider an unfair advantage should Durbin make it to the finale stage: he'll do a duet with Durbin, of an Aerosmith song.

"I don't want to spoil the Aerosmith until the finale." Durbin said last night after wowing the American Idol judge with Bon Jovi's I'll Be There For You.

According to Tyler, belting out an Aersomith tune isn't a quick way to gain favor the American Idol judge. Tyler told a TMZ videographer that pulling off an Aerosmith classic is not a sure-fire way to gain brownie points. "Never, I just look at them twice and tell them 'don't even try it.'" Tyler told TMZ during the audition phase.

It seems Tyler may have softened a bit where Durbin is concerned. Upon hearing Durbin's promise, Tyler quickly made one of his own. "You save it and I'll come up and sing it with you."

Does this mean we could see a J.Lo duet, and perhaps Randy Jackson on bass for a Journey tune, to balance things out? First things first, let's see if rocker Durbin can make it all the way to the American Idol finale - he certainly has a long road crowded with talented competitors ahead of him.

It is a travesty if American Idol does not have a revote and and get the REAL count. There have been to many reports of voting glitches. We deserve the REAL results.
