America’s Next Top Model: Breaking Down the Final Three

America’s Next Top Model has whittled its original field of 14 aspiring models down to a final three featuring a judge’s favorite trying to recapture the magic, a girl on a hot streak after an up-and-down cycle, and an unassuming nice girl that may have the goods to pull an upset. Time sure flies when you’re trying to avoid the dreckitude, no? It seems like just yesterday we were making fun of Alexandria’s roots and struggling to grasp the handlebars of fierceness. Sigh. Though next week technically isn’t the finale (I miss the finale featuring the top three, I have to say), I thought I’d break down where the girls stand as of right now and who I expect to walk away with the title of America’s Next Top Model.

Hannah
Number of First Call Outs: 2 (with two second call outs)
Strengths: Hannah had made some of the best photos in the competition and she always seems to have strong body language.
Weaknesses: She has zero confidence and right now, I think she’s too meek to really make much of an impact. Her photos aren’t as consistent as the other two girls.
Going into the final two episodes…: Can Hannah find enough faith in herself to make a run for the top spot?
Predicted Finish: 3rd place

Molly
Number of First Call Outs: 3 (with two second call outs)
Strengths: Molly’s brand of tough, powerful modeling is a really nice way to channel how much anger she seems to have. When the stars align, she’s made some pretty breathtaking photos.
Weaknesses: She’s a rather unpleasant person and that bleeds into her on-set disposition. She seems stuck in one type of modeling and we’ve not really seen her spread her wings.
Going into the final two episodes…: Can Molly fake it til she makes it?
Predicted Finish: 2nd place

Brittani
Number of First Call Outs: 1 (with five second call outs)
Strengths: Brittani’s a dynamic, self-aware model who seems readymade to do couture shoots. She’s got the most range of the remaining girls and I think she knows how to handle herself (generally).
Weaknesses: She’s not been as big of a judge’s favorite since the incident with Alexandria, so concerns about her attitude could weigh on their mind when it comes to deciding a winner.
Going into the final two episodes…: Can Brittani get back the mojo she seems to have lost and become the favorite once again?
Predicted Finish: 1st place

If you had asked me at the end of episode one of America’s Next Top Model who I thought would be in the final three, I don’t think these would have been the exact three girls I would have chosen, but that’s not to take away from their accomplishments. It’s been a refreshingly open season, especially compared to the cakewalk that Ann had last cycle, and when America’s Next Top Model is more open, it’s more entertaining to me. I think that Hannah is impossibly adorable and I think she has the potential to grow into a pretty darn good model, but I don’t see how she takes down two judge’s favorites in Brittani and Molly. She may be able to produce powerful photos more often than not, but her lack of confidence and overall meek persona don’t exactly scream America’s Next Top Model. She has a chance to sneak into the top two if either Brittani or Molly have an off weak (or if she has an especially strong week), but I don’t think she’s made enough of a strong impression on the judges or various guest judges to be able to finish in first.

That leaves us with Molly and Brittani, two girls more alike than they are dissimilar. Molly’s coming in on a roll, having “won” two photo shoots in a row and generally serving it when compared to the slightly underwhelming performances of her competitors. The judges raised the issue of Molly’s versatility last night, which is extremely valid considering how she reverts to the same angry/bratty face more often than not, and I think that’ll be the thing that keeps her from being America’s Next Top Model. Said attitude has also been brought up by the judges, with regards to her on-set persona, and I just don’t see Tyra giving someone the nod that could bring poor press to her brand. Brittani has had some attitude issues of her own, but she’s been the frontrunner this season and has very rarely faced significant criticism for her performance. Despite the issues that I have with her personality, I do think she’s the most talented one of the group and I think she’s the most ready to step onto a set and actually be a top model; she followed the blow-up with Alexandria by having several very quiet weeks and considering the fact that Tyra was the lone voice of dissent, I think Brittani’s in a great position to become the 16th top model in the show’s history.

What do you guys think? How did you feel about Alexandria’s ouster? Who are you rooting for: Brittani, Hannah, or Molly? Will whoever wins this season be successful? Out of everybody we’ve seen this season, who do you think will be the most successful?
