Archer is returning to FX tonight with its midseason premiere episode "The Man from Jupiter." The episode features a very special guest star: Burt Reynolds. Reynolds will be playing a fictionalized version of himself in tonight's very funny episode, in which he begins dating Sterling's mother Malory. That would be a mistake for anyone other than Burt Reynolds, who is just as badass as his movie persona. To make things even more complicated, guess who Sterling's childhood hero is? Yeah, our favorite idiot-spy is going to be dealing with some pretty complex emotions that will most likely end in a car chase.
It's a great midseason premiere, and a really hilarious episode. Some of the best moments of the episode come from Ray Gillette, who we last saw in a wheelchair as a result of the "Heart of Archness" storyline; in "The Man from Jupiter," Gillette's injuries are a burden to everyone, instead of just to him. Cheryl also has some great lines, especially at the end of the episode. And, of course, Woodhouse doesn't quite know who Burt Reynolds is, which provides for a few funny one-off jokes.
Archer airs tonight, January 19, with "The Man from Jupiter" on FX.
