Oliver Queen can make a joke? I know, Arrow fans, I didn’t realize he could either until I saw the newest trailer for Arrow‘s third season, which features a joking Oliver making dinner plans with Felicity, our first real glimpse at Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer (one thing we learn: the dude is suave and travels in style), and Diggle, who was unfairly sidelined for much of season two, back in action and helping Oliver keep crime off the streets of Starling City.
The new movie-like trailer for season three of Arrow, which The CW released today after just giving us the first official photos from the show’s season premiere yesterday, has a little bit of something for everyone. Olicity fans who are dying for more romance between the pair not only get Oliver, mid-high speed chase, asking Felicity if she likes Italian food before their big date (when she tells him he’s in the middle of chase and needs to focus, he responds, “I’m multitasking”), but they also get more footage of the date itself, along with a second look at the kiss the two share.
Meanwhile, if you’re less of a shipper and more into the top-notch action that Arrow provides, there’s plenty of that in the trailer as well, including the already mentioned high speed chase, another look at Sara’s return as the Canary, and Oliver shocking Roy with his shooting abilities with a pistol, instead of a bow and arrow (“I never said I didn’t know how to use a gun,” Oliver tells the jaw-dropped Roy).
In addition to all of that, there’s also footage of Thea working with Malcolm, Quentin admitting that he wishes he was “still a detective,” and Laurel commending Oliver (and the Arrow) on his better-than-ever crime-fighting skills, telling him that “If you keep this up, there won’t be any criminals left for me to prosecute.” Plus, Oliver even cracks a smile!
Arrow returns to The CW for season three on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. Check out the full trailer below.
