You can’t really mess with HBO. They have so many good shows, and with more on the horizon, they seem the only network that can provide any challenge to Netflix’s slow takeover of television. Good news for fans of the network, as they just snatched up another great idea with some fantastic stars to back it up. This time, HBO orders football show from Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson called “Ballers.”

As stated on Variety,  Ballers would focus on a group of former and current Football players in the NFL, and the madness that is their daily lives and interconnecting relationships. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to star, with Wahlberg set to help write and produce. Think about this for a minute. A show, starring The Rock, and focusing on the madness that is the NFL and its massive players. Just think of all the action and drama that could go into this show. It blows my mind that they are planning on having it be half an hour episodes. Seems like a formula that would work really well with an hour time slot. But don’t forget, shows like this are often VERY expensive, and HBO doesn’t want to risk a dud here.

As of right now the details on Ballers is limited, but over time as we learn more, so will you. For now just keep your eye on the ball.
