Banshee: Cinemax Renews Series for Season 2

BansheeThe new Cinemax drama, Banshee, premiered just over two weeks ago, but the cable channel has already granted a season 2 renewal to the series.  The series stars Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pa., where he continues his criminal activities, even as he’s hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier.

Scripts for the 10 episode first season were written by showrunners/creators Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler.  Cinemax has announced that writers John Romano (Monk), Evan Dunsky (Two and a Half Men), and Doug Jung (“Big Love) will join Tropper and Schickler for the second season in the writers' room.

The second season of Banshee is scheduled to premiere in 2014.  The current seasons airs on Friday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
