Being_Human_promoIn the U.K., the BBC airs a series called "Being Human", which is about three twentysomething roommates who just so happen to be a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost.  The pilot episode first aired in February 2008, but the series was later picked up and rebooted.  A second season will premiere in January 2010 and it premiered on  BBC America in July 2009.

Now, Syfy has ordered a 13-episode American version of the series.  The network was originally approached two years ago to be a co-producer for the series but passed.

"It turned out great as we can now do an American version," Syfy president Dave Howe said. "We've always been keen on vampires and werewolves, and we loved the originality of 'Being Human,' the fact that the fantastical creatures in it are very young, accessible and charming."

Howe stressed that Syfy is not going to "slavishly replicate the British version." Some of network's core audience already might be familiar with the original series, which runs in the U.S. on BBC America.

Syfy is aiming to premiere the series in the summer or fall of 2010.  This show may be another goldmine for them.  Their freshman series Warehouse 13 had terrific ratings over the summer and did very well for the network.

I don't know about this. First, America wants to remake "Skins" and now "Being Human"? Slightly scary…
