Some big news coming out of CBS during the Television Critics Association’s midseason press tour. Apparently the comedy show The Big Bang Theory has been renewed for three additional seasons, and will at least last through the 2013 – 2014 season.
The Big Bang Theory is currently in its fourth season and has seen its ratings rise since the show premiered in 2007. In its first season it averaged approximately 8 million viewers. In its third season it averaged 14 million viewers and it’s on track to average around that amount in its fourth season. This is certainly quite the feat for a show that’s been on the air for four years.
The cast is also getting more recognition. Star Jim Parsons won the Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and is also nominated for a 2011 Golden Globe.
The Big Bang Theory will return from its short winter hiatus with a new episode on January 20.
