Big Brother: Britney's Home Catches Fire, Fiance and Pets Safe

On the night of the Big Brother finale, Britney Haynes will have to face the cameras without knowing that tragedy has struck at home.

Early this morning in Britney's hometown of Little Rock, AR, Nick Grisham (Britney's fiancé) awoke to the house being on fire due to coals from a barbecue Nick thought he had doused out earlier with water. The coal reignited sometime later in the grass, spreading to the trash, and finally the house. Nick managed to get out alive, rescuing the two dogs he and Britney owns in the process. The house has a charred rear now and damages are estimated to be at $50,000. Nick was also able to salvage some mementos from the house, as well.

Laura Grisham, Nick's mother, spoke with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette about how Britney will eventually find out about the fire since she is in sequester from the outside world. Mrs. Grisham explained that Nick did contact the Big Brother producers, but that they ended up agreeing to not let Britney know until after the live show was over. Nick will attend the finale tonight, but feels that Britney would be upset about him withholding that information from her. Mrs. Grisham said that she reminded him of what really matters in this tragedy: his life was was spared.

"'You are lucky to be alive,'" Mrs. Grisham told the paper. "'Especially after going back two more times to get the dogs out.'"

The saddest thing about this whole tragedy is that Britney possibly never actually lived in the house yet. According to the article, Britney's belongings were moved into the house after she had left for Big Brother, which means that she probably didn't get a chance to enjoy it with Nick at all.

I don't know about you, but this makes me wish even more that Britney had made it to the final two. Although, the America's Vote $25,000 prize is still at play and Britney did collect $10,000 recently from a competition within the show.

Tonight's Britney must help pick the winner of Big Brother in the two hour finale, which will start at 9/8c live on CBS. Our hearts go out to Britney and her family and we hope she makes it through this tragedy.
