For those of you out there that can't get enough polygamy-based drama, I have good news for you. Variety is reporting HBO has picked up Big Love for a fifth season. With great critical praise (as it has almost always enjoyed), ratings for the currently airing 9-episode season are up 13% compared to last season. I can personally attest that the show, presently centered on paterfamilias Bill Henrickson's run for state senator, has never been better. Love's creators cite the more dramatic tone the series has recently taken for the uptick in audience:
"We've taken the show deeper and darker over the last couple of seasons, and we're overjoyed that HBO has come along with us," said "Big Love" exec producer Mark Olsen.
It is reported that season 5 will consist of ten episodes, with filming beginning this summer for a winter premiere.
