The premium channel Starz is still looking for its home run-hitting television series. We’ve enjoyed some of their series in the past, but let’s be honest – it’s not HBO. On January 25th Starz will get another shot at winning our attention with it’s swash-buckling drama ‘Black Sails‘. The show is a haunting blend of Pirates of the Caribbean and Game of Thrones – sounds pretty good doesn’t it?

What’s caught our attention is the opening credits done by Battlestar Galactica and Walking Dead composer Bear McCreary. It’s really a gorgeous, cool piece of work that haunts you and captivates you at the same time. It’s on the level of Game of Thrones – a main title design that just about everyone is familiar with. And when we say on the same level we’re talking about the same main title design that won the Emmy in 2011.

All that’s left to ask is whether or not you will be tuning on January 25th to follow the adventures of Captain Flint and his crew. Knowing how Starz has done things in the past I wouldn’t suggest letting your kids stay up for this one, but we do recommend you check it out.
