Boardwalk Empire 3.12 Sneak Peeks: Will Mickey Double Cross Nucky?
Earlier this season on Boardwalk Empire, Nucky Thompson found himself alone and facing the wrath of Gyp Rosetti without the resources or the alliance needed to protect himself. Men eventually came back to him when they understood that anyone tainted by Nucky would be dead to Gyp and Joe Masseria, but with Luciano and Lansky responsible for the death of Owen, all's not well in the Thompson camp. Could Mickey Doyle be the next one to jump ship?
On the third season finale of Boardwalk Empire, Doyle is looking to make a deal with Rothstein about the distillery owned by Andrew Mellon and to be operated by Nucky. He wants the two to join forces in getting control of the sure-to-be goldmine, which he feels should be easy since Nucky's back is to the wall right now with everything going on. It might make sense for Nucky to cede control of a potential danger like the distillery, since Gyp has been targeting every place (and person) associated with Nucky; however, Doyle going behind his back might not be the best way to go about it.
Meanwhile, Gillian tries to get Gyp to let her and Tommy out of the house and leave town, but Rosetti informs her that not having her around would make him feel "anxious." Gillian made her bed the minute she gave up Nucky's whereabouts at Babette's, but now she sees Gyp for the man he really is - angry, violent, and dangerous. If she simply had to get Richard out of the house last week, she could have sent Tommy with him if she was worried, though I'd guess it took having her security blanket ripped away for her to see the situation she's put herself and her grandson in. Once you're "with" Gyp, you're with him for good, through thick and thin, 'til death do you part.
Death follows Gyp wherever he goes and frankly, I have a feeling it may be coming sooner rather than later for Mrs. Damody, as well.
Elsewhere on Boardwalk Empire, Harrow returns to the brothel after being thrown out by Gillian, Luciano is strong-armed into taking on another partner following his arrest, Chalky and Capone put aside their differences to take on Masseria's men together, and Margaret makes a decision that could change her life permanently.
Boardwalk Empire airs Sunday at 9:00 on HBO. You can check out the full episode description of the finale here.
Should Mickey be looking to make a move when there's a war going on outside? Will Gillian be able to untangle herself from Gyp and escape the brothel with Tommy? Is there any way that the season finale can top last week's remarkable episode?
