Promo - Boardwalk Empire

HBO may have found its successor to The Sopranos. Gangsters have been conspicuously absent from the network after Tony Soprano cut to black in 2007. With Boardwalk Empire, however, HBO might have a return to the gangster world. Even better, it might have a return to the gangster world in its prime: the 1920's. And even better than that, it will feature two of the gangster film world's hall of famers. Martin Scorsese, famous for directing mob movies like Goodfellas and The Departed, is both directing the pilot and executively producing the series. And Steve Buscemi, who perhaps most famously played Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs, has the series' starring role. The series is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey, during the Prohibition era, and will focus on the city's corruption during that time.

The following promo aired on HBO recently, though HBO did make a change to the trailer when they uploaded it to YouTube. When Buscemi utters the line "Who's stopping you?" in the trailer below, it might sound a little cobbled together. That's because it is -- HBO simply skipped over the profanity for YouTube viewers. That, along with the entire trailer, proves one thing: Boardwalk Empire isn't going to be a happy show. It's going to be full of drama, violence, and sex. In other words, it'll be typical HBO fare. It should be worth a watch. Will you be tuning in?
