Bones Renewed for 7th Season, Boreanaz Says

According to Bones star David Boreanaz, the Fox show has been renewed for a seventh season.  Last night, Boreanaz tweeted that Bones was a "go" for season 7.

There was never much doubt that Bones wouldn't be renewed for next season.  The show is performing very well for Fox.  In fact, the ratings have increased as the seasons progress.  Seasons 1 through 3 averaged between 8.9 and 9.4 million viewers.  But from season 4 onwards, Bones has been pulling in over 10 million viewers on average.  The only thing holding up renewal were contract negotiations with the stars, so it was really only a matter of time before the announcement was made.  Apparently there's been no official confirmation from the network yet about the fate of Bones, but if the star feels secure in tweeting this news, I'm sure we have nothing to worry about.

We may even see a potential Bones spin-off show on the Fox schedule next season, depending on how the pilot performs.  The characters for this spin-off were recently introduced in the Bones episode where Booth and Brennan traveled to Florida to investigate a murder in the Everglades.

With the recent announcement that Bones star Emily Deschanel is pregnant, we may see a shortened season 7 to accommodate her, or perhaps it will be written into the show.  No decision has been made yet, but we will see Bones live for another season.

Update: Fox has officially confirmed the renewal news for Bones.
