Tom Kane may have dodged the latest bullets aimed squarely at his head with the muzzling of Dr. Reyes and the murder of Alderman Mata, but things aren't as neat and tidy as they appear for the current mayor of Chicago. At the end of last week's episode of Boss, Meredith propositioned Zajac to drop out of the governor's race and join the mayoral campaign in a year, only with her aid as she's determined to take down her husband once and for all.
And of course, there's the issue of who sent the document to Chumpbait in the first place, since the nurse has vanished in the same way that Dr. Harris did several episodes ago.
Judging by the previews for tonight's episode of Boss, Kane's pulling out the big guns, as he's busy berating a suddenly more human Kitty and threatening to wipe someone off the face of the planet. With his increasingly poor mental state and a whole deck of political cards stacked against him, it's no wonder that Kane is on edge and willing to bury anyone in his path and all the intriguing hanging chads on Boss will be coming to a head soon enough.
In "Stasis", which is likely to be anything but stagnant, the election is only a few days away (I think the episode will start on a Sunday, since "Spit" began on Saturday and continued through the night) and Kane makes a power play to strong-arm increasingly restless aldermen. As much as it may help his political standing, the move may not sit well with the one fly constantly buzzing around the Kane camp: the media.
The second clip shows Ezra Stone dealing with the blowback from the Dr. Reyes recant, with two people questioning him on how much Kane knew about the toxic waste. Mayor Tom Kane may be an expert at playing with public perception, but it'll take some serious political maneuvering in order to turn this in his favor.
The penultimate episode of Boss airs tonight at 10:00 on Starz. The show has already been renewed for a 10 episode second season, scheduled to air in 2012.
