Start practicing your death drops because Lifetime has officially renewed Dance Moms. The show, which debuted earlier this summer, has grown throughout its run and will return for 13 more episodes in a second season. While there's no word on when a second season would air, the first season finale will be airing Wednesday, October 5th at 10:00.
Dance Moms follows seven children (Maddie, Chloe, Brooke, Paige, Nia, Mackenzie, and Vivi-Anne) ranging in age from 6 1/2 to 13 with an interest in dance as they train under the famed Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh. Along with various competitions and stylish routines, the show focuses on the mothers of the children and the conflict that arises between them over costumes, favoritism from Miss Abby, and choreography. Tonight's episode, titled "There's Only One Shining Star", will find the girls being cast in a Hollywood music video.
Lifetime recently renewed Drop Dead Diva for a fourth season and picked up America's Most Wanted from Fox, while The Protector and Roseanne's Nuts were canceled after one season.
What have you thought about Dance Moms so far? Do you have a favorite mom and/or dancer? What would you want to see out of a second season, i.e. new routines, bigger competitions, etc.?
I absolutely loved dance moms! i'm a 17 year old that only dance for 1 year but the show has inspired me to dig up my ballet slippers :)

I luv luv luv this show. I grew up dancing and competing, so I can relate my “miss abbey ” was named miss Sherri, but we called her ” scary Sherri” Chloe is my all time fav, I think she just has this quality about her that is very sweet, and kind, when she froze on stage, I cried for her. All the girls are awesome, I really like holly, because I too am African American, and my name is holly, which is rare and cool, o cannot wait for the second season

I like Chloe two, but wish she had more confidence. If Chloe could be more confident she would be a better dancer. But she is really sweet and probably one of the top dancers in the show.
I have been a dancer for almost 13 years now and I love it this is my favorite dance show ever on TV and after watching this I have learned so many new steps thar I haven’t even learned yet and I’m only 15!! Well can’t wait for season two

Chloe for sure, oh and Brooke and Paige, BUT if i have to pick one *ugh* i have to go with my girl Chloe. she's a brilliant dancer and her mom i can def. feel her. i mean I'm no mom, lol I'm sixteen, but i can understand no one likes the favoritism game being played, especially with their children >:)

I love maddie. She is my all time favorite dancer on the show. I think Chloe equally needs the attention from abby, but i do very much believe that maddie is time devoted and is a girl who loves and is fantastic at dance. Chloe just needs to bump up her confidence level and then she will suceed at winner a 1st place title. The only yhting is that she needs to remember her routines and needs to spend more time focussing on tecnique and time and effort to be at the same dancing level as maddie. Yes, Chloe is amazing as well, i just think that maddie is the best dancer on the show.

I love this show, and all the girls! Their each special and talented in their own way! The moms have a little patching up to do but things take time. But lord, gotta love that Abby Lee :)
maddie is my favorite! Chloe is good just has no confidence and her mom always complains. i thought it was terrible when Maddies and Mackenzie mom left for vacation and left them their with Abby and they are only 7 and 8! maddie is really good and i am so excited for season !!!!!!!!!
NIA,is a great dancer she has come a long way and I do believe she will be tired up with Maddie and Chloe.Abby sees this in her and knows she could be a first place dancer but no one will out shine her Mattie.These two girls CHLOE ,NIA of good dancer they of stepping up there steps to become first place winner.

I love dance moms. I think chloe is the best dancer and should win the same amount of performances as maddie and my favorite mom is chloes mom. I can not Wait for the second season to come out. I also really want there to be more performances in the second season because I love dance and take dance classes.

I like Maddie and chloe and Brooke. i really like Maddie and Chole is because they are great dancers and really cute. I like Brooke too because i am 13 years old so i know what she is going threw when she is growing up and i am in dance too so it is nice to get tips from Abby Lee Miller. I would like to see bigger competitions. :)))

I think Nia is adorable! I think she is very humble. But if I had to choose my favorite dancer, it would be Chloe. She has this elegant and professional air about her that makes me wish I had stayed a dancer.
I’d like to see the full dances next season, not the abridged versions of the routines! And less stuff about the moms- it’s only interesting when they freak out, not when they go out to lunch.
I think chole is the best. I think all of the girls are wonderful too.

I love dance moms! It's absolutely my favorite show. Cathy really is annoying and Vivi Anne does not have any potential. Chole is my favourite, but I wish abbey would give her more attention and help her win. I LOVE brook the most! I would like to see a dance to green day songs. Also I want to see more time to practice the dances. I Want more competition for the girls amd for them to do more pair dances with boys! I loved the dance where have all the children gone!

I can understand where Maddies mom comes from on the jeleousy issue. I mean some parents can be quite snotty about it but I think that Abby should be treating every child equally. If she doesn’t give the kid confidence, their never gonna get it. If I have to pick a fav it’s probably Chloe
