Jenna Elfman to Join Damages for Season 5

TVLine is reporting that Jenna Elfman (Dharma & Greg, Accidentally on Purpose) has signed on to the final season of DirecTV's Damages, which is set to air next summer. Elfman will be playing a bank employee that may start leaking some of the shady affairs her employers are involved in. She'll join previously announced season five guest stars Ryan Phillippe (Flags of Our Fathers) and John Hannah (The Mummy).

Elfman doesn't have extensive experience in dramatic television, having only a couple of guest roles (Murder One, Brothers & Sisters) to her credit. For those who may be a little unsure as to this casting, need I remind you that Damages has a history of taking primarily comedic actors (Martin Short, Lily Tomlin, Ted Danson) and allowing them to stretch their wings, culminating in awards attention and significant praise. This could be Elfman's chance to really throw us for a loop and show us a whole other side to her acting that we haven't seen before and I welcome the chance to watch her grow.

Season four of Damages, which wrapped up on September 14th, saw Patty and Ellen joining forces following Tom's death in season three to tackle High Star, a private military company. It featured the likes of Judd Hirsch, John Goodman, Chris Messina, and Dylan Baker.

How do you think Elfman will do on something as dramatic as Damages? What was your opinion of season four and do you think season five can top it? Who else would you like to see guest star on the show?
