Steve-O's Killer Karaoke Coming to truTV

truTV has picked up a new reality series named Killer Karaoke, set to be hosted by Jackass alum Steve-O. The show, described as "the Wipeout of singing competitions", is set to premiere in early 2012 and will feature contestants trying to sing a song while going through physical challenges. Killer Karaoke is based on Sing If You Can, an ITV1 game show that debuted last spring.

Killer Karaoke won't be the first singing show to throw in a distinct twist, as NBC's The Voice showcased blind auditions in its initial season and Fox's The X Factor does away with age limits and embraces groups as well as solo artists. I have a feeling that the show will be less like the traditional model for a singing competition and more like The CW's currently-in-development Extreme Musical Chairs in combining musicality with physical elements. (Think Say What Karaoke? meets Dog Eat Dog, if you will.)

Steve-O is, of course, no stranger to reality TV, getting his breakthrough on MTV's Jackass and subsequently appearing on Wildboyz and Dancing with the Stars.

Will you be watching Killer Karaoke? How do you think the two distinct elements of the show will gel? Do you think Steve-O will be a good host?
