Californication: Marilyn Manson to Guest Star in Season 6

californication marilyn mansonHank Moody has always been a rock star hiding in the body of a writer. Though he toned down the wild behavior (a little) last season on Californication, Moody led with his id for years – the girls, the liquor, the drugs all very much in abundance. With the sixth season of the show looming, though, it looks like he may have met his match once and for all.

Rocker Marilyn Manson is scheduled to appear in one episode of Californication, playing himself at a party thrown by Atticus Fetch, the man responsible for adapting Hank’s novel God Hates Us All into a rock opera titled A Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Manson comes into contact with Moody and, likely, the entire universe will explode. Or, more likely, it’ll get extremely awkward, Hank’ll utter a comment that makes the situation more awkward, and they’ll both slink off like it never happened. Hank may behave like a rock star, but he’s never really been around rock stars, so he should still be adjusting to the change of scenery. Going from the literary business to movies to Broadway/music is a major shift and Hank’s such a bull in a china shop around new people anyway that a meeting with Manson should go about as well as expected.

Manson joins a very impressive guest roster for the season, which includes Tim Minchin, Maggie Grace, Jorge Garcia, Sebastian Bach, Sarah Wynter, Lee Arenberg, and Maggie Wheeler. He’s mainly been involved in film work (Jawbreaker, Party Monster) over television, but he has appeared in episodes of The Soup, Helden von morgen, and Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!.

Californication returns for its sixth season in early 2013, along with new seasons of House of Lies and Shameless.

How do you think the next season of Californication sounds? Are there any other musicians that you’d like to see pop up? What will Hank do, say, or think when he comes face-to-face with the shock-rocker?
