Castle Sneak Peeks: 4.18 “A Dance With Death”

Luciana Mangas March 15, 2012 12

It has been a really long 3-week hiatus, hasn’t it, Castle fans? Particularly after all the exciting information we got out of the Pailey Fest Castle panel last week. But the wait is almost over. Next Monday, our favorite crime fighting duo returns with an all new episode, paying homage to ABC’s Dancing with the Stars premiere, that is set to air just before Castle.

In “A Dance with Death”, a contestant on the hit competition show ‘A Night of Dance,’is found murdered in her dressing room. Castle and Beckett must then navigate the case’s many twists and twirls without stepping on each other’s toes. But as they delve into Odette’s past, they discover that this reality starlet was harboring a shocking secret that may have led to her death. The Secret Circle‘s Adam Harrington guest stars.

From the sneak peeks, it seems that we are going to get a glimpse into Lanie’s back story, however brief it will be. Also, it looks like they are going to explore the secondary characters a lot more in this episode, with Martha, Lanie and the boys. Granted, Marlowe has said that this will be the last calm episode before things get real in the last stretch until the season finale, so I think this is most likely going to be a fun, filler episode. The calm before the storm and all that.

Are you guys excited?

Yeah, this is another fun entertaining filler in a season full of fun entertaining fillers and only six episodes, by my taste , with eps of substance. Now 4.19 will begin the mad dash to the finish line when everything we've been waiting for suddenly hits the fan. The feelings will begin to leak out and 4.20 will spill all sorts of revelations, but why drag everybody [fans] to this point and then shove them off the plank. I just don't get it. I long for the steady story telling of seasons 1, 2 and to a lesser extent 3. And once again,OH WELL, but I am glad to see the series back for at least two weeks before another break.

Wanna borrow my optimist eyewear for a bit? I have a sneaking suspicion that we're about to get what we've asked for in the last 5 episodes. Maybe it's not as fast as some would have liked. Maybe it won't be *everything* we want and I genuinely do not think pirate planks will be involved. Between the panel survey and the ratings and everything else that goes into making this show, I think the continuity and character messages were delivered and heard by TPTB. How it plays out….well, that's where fashionable optimist eyewear comes in handy. :)

Very funny, but the plank comment was intended to mean everything will get thrown at us in the final episode. Something I hate seeing. It always seems to me to be a cop out for good story telling.

After a re-read, my plank comment fell flat…mea culpa. Do you see it as a damned if they do/don't scenario? From 4×10 through 4×16 the character storylines didn't make sense, practically no call-backs, little to no continuity, & just like that, ratings took a hit & the poll appears just in time for the last 5 episodes to take that all into account. Doing something for the end of S4 is way better than nothing and beyond that, there's room to build in S5. The last 5 episodes can make up for whatever happened mid-season.

I do agree that this is a life line to fandom. That poll on Wet Paint, a bastion of Castlemania, demonstrates how fans view Season 4. Cops and Robbers scored highest with around 50%, then came Rise at 18%, Cuffed at 12% and all the other episodes were in single digits.
What I find very troubling is that ten seconds of dialog in each of those other episode would have change everyone's perception and demonstrated that the flame betwixt the DD was still there.
I just don't get it, why it was intentionally ignored and it was intentional. Here again, OH WELL! These writers are good, really good, I know that from 4.19 on we'll get quality storylines, but why was so much of the season waisted because of ten seconds?

The plank comment was perfect. It seems the whole season is a filler, but a filler for what? Again through a spoiler here and there, we are promised a big bang type of season ending episode. How about this? We watch the first and last episodes each season and avoid the fillers filled with winks and nods. Still a fan, but the passion for watching is waning fast.

The majority of the season a filler, it did feel that way. And now in ep. 4.19 the season returns to the original arch. Seven episodes out of twenty-three, the others as far as the grand arch is concerned were throw aways; come on, so much talent among the writers, this should never have happened.

Hey Luc, what did of think of the Paley Fest.

I liked it. Thought it was really fun, but took everything Marlowe said with a grain of salt. However, I do believe that SOMETHING is going to happen to move Castle and Beckett's relationship along, given that now Nathan – who was always completely against them getting together – seems to be on board with the idea. I'm trying to not get my hopes up and just take everything they throw at us in stride, you know? Next Monday's ep sounds like a filler, so let's hope the others aren't.

I get the feeling from the numerous interviews that Caskett will pick up steam heading to 4.23. It'll be interesting to see what kind of crash and burn AWM & CO will throw at us for 4.23.

  • lame

There seems to be a sense that AWM has milked the separation bit for all it's worth and the stagnant numbers on the ratings indicate that it's time to move on. I don't think for a second that Castle is in any danger of being cancelled, as long as their numbers are steady they're safe. But I think AWM would like to move back into first place, being third, although it keeps you in the running, sucks for your ego.

For what ever reason AWM & CO have been really careless on the little details this season. First she passes out under water [drowns] and suddenly appears on the dock as if nothing has happened, now the scar disappears and the most egregious, when Joe and Vera make out in front of that flaming car with two bodies being barbequed in the front seat, very romantic.
