Dancing with the Stars seems, at this point, more unstoppable than American Idol. The dancing show featuring celebrity contestants such as Bristol Palin and the recently eliminated "Situation" from Jersey Shore is getting pretty solid ratings, and is one of ABC's strongest shows. It's also helping out another one of ABC's strongest shows to become even stronger. Doesn't seem fair, does it?
I've never seen Castle (not my type of show), but I certainly have some respect for it, simply because it stars Nathan Fillion. After having Firefly and Drive both cancelled from under him by FOX, it's nice to see him prove that he can get a good solid run as a show's lead... even if it is with the help of Dancing with the Stars.
Things were looking good for both shows Monday night, according to Entertainment Weekly's "Hollywood Insider." Apparently, the two-hour episode of Dancing with the Stars gave Castle a bit of a boost:
Another terrific performance byDancing With the Stars helped ABC to rule on Monday among adults 18-49 (3.5 rating/9 share) and viewers (16.7 million). The two-hour edition of Dancing was the night’s most-watched show (19.2 million), which did Castle a solid at 10: The sexy drama won its timeslot in viewers (11.5 million) and many of the female demographics, but came in second among adults 18-49 behind Hawaii Five-0, which averaged 10.5 million. Still, that’s great news for the Nathan Fillion drama, which looked like it was on the verge of cancellation last season before ABC programmers decided to keep it around. Occasionally, those net execs do recognize a good thing when they see it.
Castle's next episode, "3XK," will air next Monday. Check back into TVOvermind for reactions to the Dancing with the Stars elimination later tonight.
