J.J. Abrams' Person of Interest Pilot Picked Up by CBS

J.J. Abrams is a very busy man lately.  His new movie Super 8 will be released this summer and he's still working on the follow up to Star Trek.  In addition, he's got a few television pilots brewing.  Last year's Undercovers was canceled by NBC, and his new pilot starring LOST alums Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn has been put on hold, but the pilot for Alcatraz is filming (with Sam Neill, Sarah Jones, Jorge Garcia) and CBS has just picked up another pilot called Person of Interest.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that CBS has put in a pilot order for this new show, which is a crime drama written by Jonah Nolan.  He's the brother of Christopher Nolan and co-wrote the script for The Dark Knight.

In other words, Person of Interest has a pretty decent writer.

The show is being produced by Warner Bros. TV and Abram's production company Bad Robot.  The story follows an ex-CIA hitman and a scientist, who team up to attempt to prevent crimes before they occur.

So the question, of course, whether this story will turn out to be more dark and mysterious like Fringe, or lighter like Undercovers.  Of course, we don't know whether the show itself will end up being picked up, so we'll have to wait for the networks to announce their schedules for the fall in the coming months.
