“The Big Bang Theory” is getting an infusion of some new blood and maintaining some older blood, in the form of casting, as was announced recently.
First, the good news: Melissa Rauch, who plays Bernadette, Howard’s ditzy girlfriend, has been graduated to a full cast member for the rest of the season. There is no word if this goes past this season or just how many episodes she’ll actually be in the rest of this season, but here’s to holding out hope that they include her in as many as possible.
Melissa Rauch is mostly known for her comedic chops, doing guest stints on “The Office”, the now defunct “Kath and Kim”, and appearing on many “Best Week Ever” episodes, she appeared as Summer, Hoyt’s girlfriend on HBO’s run-away hit, “True Blood”.
The other good casting news for “The Big Bang Theory” involves an actor from another run-away pay-cable hit, except this one is on Showtime and involves a certain serial killer named Dexter. Keith Carradine, who played Special Agent Frank Lundy on “Dexter”, has been cast as Penny’s father in an upcoming episode. Keith will join the ranks of TV veterans playing guest stints on the show; such as Christine Baranski, who played Leonard’s psychologist mother and Laurie Metcalf.
It was revealed in the episode that guest starred Christine Baranski that Penny has a lot of issues with her father. It’ll be interesting to see where the writers take their relationship.
“The Big Bang Theory” is all new Thursdays, on CBS at 8/7c.
