Chuck fans, this is your last week to impress the brass at NBC. Chuck star Zachary Levi has told E!Online that NBC will NOT announce a renewal for Chuck at the NBC upfronts on Monday - so unfair! On the other hand, Chuck fans should be encouraged that the brass is considering the show so carefully, this would be the perfect opportunity to rev up all of those save Chuck efforts. While I definitely don't think that Chuck fans should let up for one second, I have to tell you that I'm feeling rather confident that Chuck will be renewed, and I'm not talking intangible gut feelings here - no, no, no - I feel there is strong evidence that a Chuck renewal makes sense for NBC; here's what I'm thinking.
- Zachary Levi is the hardest working lead on television today. Not only has he created a genuinely likeable character, but he busts tail promoting Chuck, and has from the very beginning. That has to speak to the brass at NBC in a big way - we're not talking Heroes, where the cast is nowhere in site when the ratings hit the fan (except for Masi Oka and Jack Coleman). Zach has been out in force. Just check out this video for an example.
- Chuck's ratings are trending in the right direction. As in, not down. Hardly a block-buster at the moment, Chuck's ratings have stabilized, and show that there is a sizable audience (6 million give or take) of die-hard live viewers. That's Die Hard, with a capital D.H. Now, stabilizing in a slightly sub-par position might not be the kind of trend we want, but consider this: NBC has been the underdog on Monday for some time, and Chuck's competition - recently Dancing With the Stars, House, and... need we say more? - is diverse and fierce. Taken this further into context; the only like-minded programming is receiving around 9 million viewers in that hour, so Chuck is really only competing for a share of 15 million, or so, viewers. With its solid audience, Chuck would be a great candidate for a lucrative time-slot move into more habitable waters.
So if you are involved in any of the save-Chuck campaigns, now is your time! Use this last week to make a big noise, it will very likely make the difference.

Jon, I have to agree with you entirely, except for one point: Greg Grunberg has been the champion of that crap show Heroes since day one. All one has to do is witness his YouTube campaigns to understand how much he has done for that show. Why? I have no idea, because he sure is spitting in the wind with that one.

You are absolutely right and I should know that, I've interviewed him twice!
