You know your show is loved and appreciated by your channel when you’re able to sign contracts for three more seasons of life, rather than just one. It seems that Comedy Central doesn’t think this “internet” fad is going anywhere any time soon, and they want Daniel Tosh to be around to make fun of it.
They’ve just picked up three more seasons of the show, meaning Tosh will be on the air into 2016. And there’s aren’t little dinky 12 episode seasons either. Season six of Tosh was 30 episodes long. Via The Wrap:
“We believe ‘Tosh.0’ has the potential to resonate with our audience, and we want to give it time to connect,” said Kent Alterman, president, Content Development and Original Programming, Comedy Central.
Added Tosh, “I am extremely fortunate and very grateful that I can continue to work with such fun and talented people on a very supportive network. Sorry for the lack of snark — I will leave that open for the comments section.”
Alterman’s statements are interesting because it makes it sound like Tosh is doing bad and currently NOT connecting with CC’s audience. But that’s not true, as the show is the channel’s #2 rated program, only behind South Park. Kind of an odd statement to make, frankly.
Are you excited for more Tosh?
