In all of our excitement over the recently completed Comic-Con we sometimes fail to remember that, well, it is Comic-Con!
One of the best tidbits to be announced last weekend is that one of my favorite television programs, Jericho, will be released in comic book form by Devil's Due Publishing this coming October, as announced by Josh Blaylock, President of the publishing company. Jericho: Season 3 will take over where the television series concluded but lead quickly to what we all knew had to happen - Civil War.
Backed and written with help of esteemed comic writer Jason Burns, the original
team of writers from the television series and Executive Producers Jon Steinberg Karim Zreik, and Dan Shotz, and Robert Levine, along with one of the stars of Jericho, Lennie James (Robert Hawkins) spoke at the Comic-Con panel about the coming series:
Dan Shotz looked to the audience and impassionedly said “Thank you for this!” He later enthusiastically said of the "Jericho" fans “You guys are the greatest marketing team in the world…you brought a major corporation to its knees and made them bring back the show…you guys are the reason there is a Season Two, you guys are the reason for a Season Three in the comic book, and we have a lot more to come because of you.”
“It was so important to do this as a team, this group is the group that started this show, and we wanted to continue it that way…and we wanted to keep true to the story that was planned…we wanted the characters to look like the characters, the stories to be from the writers of the show.”
Citing the fact that without network budgetary issues to deal with, Blaylock said the new chapter of Jericho will be free of the normal constraints:
“As soon as you take it out of the network, a lot can change, for the better I think. It’s probably the same story that would have been told, but now we get to see it and engage with it. It’s now an interactive story...there’s no limit to the number of tanks you can have [on the comic’s page].”
When the future of a Jericho movie was questioned, we got the best news:
“There have been talks about a movie, there have been serious talks about a movie. Where we are right now is finding the right story to tell for the movie. It’s mostly a timing thing with writers, actors, etc., but where we are right now, it’s finding the right story to tell in two hours for a movie...The intent is to do the movie as a theatrical release, not direct to DVD. If we were going to do it, we’d want to do it big.”
Now, that's even better news for Jericho fans!

Hey Jericho Fans! Maybe you need to watch the series again on Netflix and get your passion back and now that the Graphic Novel is out, we will need our voices heard once again….Action changes things, not hopes and dreams!

Man, I wish they'd bring the show back. I think the 2nd season got a raw deal with the writer's strike.

this is extremely disappointing right now… i don't care about a comic book form. It's the acting, the action, the feel of live characters that make the show so addicting. Reading a comic will not give you that same effect as Season 1 and 2 did. I'll skip this out.

The only problem I had was with the guy who played Jake. Horrible actor so it didn't help that he was the lead.
i actually think the actor for jake is an awesome character, he did all his parts well to me, one of the reasons why i like the show, its like not having jack bauer in 24.
but they should def bring back the tv show

I just had the random idea to google jericho season 3. And this is the article that I click on. Wow, I miss this show. I still wish it was a show and not a comic book. BUT, this will have to do to learn the story.

Season 2 got a raw deal because of the writers strike and because of stupidity on CBS' part in terms of scheduling, hiatis, etc in both Season 1 & 2. Can't wait to see the comics, the movie, and hopefully lots more! Re-watching Season 1 & 2 hasn't gotten old yet…just makes me want more and find new questions I want answers to!

i agree with the people before me said…comic book is ok but nothing like the show…the raw emotions of each character and the actors that played them is what made my heart melt….a comic can't supply all that…so sad :(

I would love to see Jericho back on TV for season 3, I would watch it Pay per View for each episode if I have to. Why can't there be a book series starting from season three, I would be first in line to buy it.

I just finished watching both seasons on Netflix and I was devestated to read that it was only two seasons long, I have’t had cable for nearly two years and I cannot believe that they cancelled this extremely compelling show. I give major props to the writers and director and of course the excellent cast and everyone that put this together. You kept me at the egde of my seat for 3 days straight and I dont mind the lack of sleep lol, I’m an avid book reader and do not find many shows that grab my attention and devotion as Jericho has. Thank you for pulling up your sleeves and putting Jericho out there. Great Job!! I hope to see more.

Same here I just fell in love with the series and was so sad to find out that it stopped so early. That second season was SO short! Who do I need to contact to get this ball rolling? petition anyone?
This show needs to continue! I watched it on Netflix in 2 days, and I normally hate watching tv. But this show is just amazing and the fact that it's soo realistic makes it that much better. Nukes could go off at any time. And this show and how things are played out give us fans ideas on how to cope if anything drastic were to happen to our nation. I love Jericho! Bring it backk!
I busted finished the first season starting to watch the second and these has to be the best tv series I have ever watch I wish they would make more of them into a tv series they are so addictive I don’t want them to end
I don’t know what happened for the producers to put off a really good show. What I want to know is can Jerecho be put togather again? Cos we miss it a lot.
