Cougar Town: Shirley Jones to Guest Star on Season 4

Shirley Jones Cougar TownDon’t look now, but the Cul-de-Sac Crew will have not one, but two new members come season four of Cougar Town. Super-sized penny can?

Partridge Family alum Shirley Jones is set to appear on the transplanted comedy during the upcoming season as half of an elderly couple that buys the house next to Jules. The only stipulation to their purchase is that they want to be included in the Cul-de-Sac Crew, which apparently doesn’t go over well with the others, since Jones will appear in only one episode. Her partner (and fellow wine enthusiast) on the show has yet to be cast.

In addition to her role as Shirley Partridge on the ’70’s comedy, Oscar winner (and Emmy-nominated) Jones has appeared on the likes of Raising Hope, Victorious, and Good Luck Charlie. She joins the list of guest stars for the upcoming season of Cougar Town that includes Ali Wentworth as a potential love interest for Tom and Gillian Vigman as a potential love interest for Bobby. Bob Clendenin, who plays Tom, has been upped to series regular status for the fourth season, the show’s first since moving from ABC to TBS in the spring.

The 15-episode fourth season of Cougar Town premieres Tuesday, January 8th at 10:00 on TBS. You can check out the announcement of the return date here, as well as a series of promos for the new season here, which explain what the show is really about.

And it sure ain’t cougars. Anymore, at least.

Do you think that the gang should suck it up and let the elderly couple join in on the fun, if only to have new blood around and to get Jules some easy money? What do you think will be the thing that sends the couple from the home and forces them to move away? Would you be open to new people joining the gang on a full-time basis?
