Tonight on Criminal Minds: 7.03 "Dorado Falls"

The BAU team head to Charlottesville, Virginia tonight to investigate a mass murder at an Internet-security company. They find that the clues lead them to a suspect who is not a typical serial killer. In the sneak peek for "Dorado Falls" that can be seen below, Emily (Paget Brewster) has to complete recertification training with a familiar face as her trainer. Warning light spoilers ahead.

So what is it about this unsub that makes him different from a typical serial killer? It would appear that Navy Veteran Luke Dolan (guest star Max Martini: Revenge, The Unit) may be suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which not only results in him killing his own parents but believing that he is on some kind of bigger mission. This sounds somewhat reminiscent of the season 2 episode "Distress" which featured a Veteran who also suffered from PTSD from his time in Somalia, and who also went on a seemingly random killing spree. Not that I think that this new episode will be a carbon copy of this previous one and I'm sure it will explore other factors about PTSD.

The promo below features what seems like Dolan infiltrating the building that the team are working out of, as when Rossi (Joe Mantegna) asks "Where are you?" his reply is "Right behind you." Creepy right?

Emily is still trying to adjust to life back in the BAU team and she must complete recertification training to be fully reintegrated back into her old job. Morgan (Shemar Moore) will be her trainer and in the sneak peek below it looks pretty light hearted between the pair. Despite the many unresolved feelings from Prentiss' return Morgan made it clear last week that he is happy that she is back, even if he did carry her coffin. His anger is not pointing in Emily's direction though as his issues are with Hotch (Thomas Gibson). Despite the happy cooking scene that saw this family back together last week all is not plain sailing, and really if all was resolved in just two episodes it would really take away from the drama that faking a death should create. Instead Erica Messer told Entertainment Weekly:

"Basically, having Prentiss’ death be faked and J.J. (A.J. Cook) and Hotch having to keep that a secret, it changes everyone. It changes those who had to keep the secret, and it changes those who feel betrayed by that secret. And I want to play to that for the rest of the series, to be honest. It’s another layer to every character."

So expect some more tension between the team as season 7 progresses. Have you been happy with the way that they have dealt with each character and their reaction to the deception? Is it what you expected? Let us know your thoughts on the start of this season in the comments.
