The premiere of Ringer last night on The CW may have drawn a mixed critical and viewer reaction, but the numbers are solid for the network.
Ringer was watched by 2.7 million viewers and earned a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49. 90210, which had its fourth season premiere just before Ringer, had 1.6 million and a 0.8 rating, which is an 11% drop from its premiere last fall. So the new show clearly performed better than its lead-in.
Updated: Revised ratings later in the day show that Ringer was actually watched by 2.84 million, with a 1.6 rating share among adults 18-49.
What does that mean? Well, the Ringer premiere got watched by fewer people than the Nikita premiere last fall. It did, however, beat the series premiere ratings for Life Unexpected, which used to air on Tuesday nights and was canceled after two short seasons. Right now it's hovering around the general ratings of Supernatural in its most recent seasons, which isn't a bad number. The question is how it will fare next week and going forward.
