Damages to Return on DirecTV

FX unfortunately dropped Damages (starring Glenn Close) after its third season.  For some time, there were questions as to whether another network would pick it up.  In July, DirecTV announced that it was buying the exclusive rights to produce and air the fourth and fifth seasons of the show.

Now, the network has announced that the fourth season of Damages will begin airing in the summer of 2011.  Damages will only be running in DirecTV (unlike Friday Night Lights, which runs first on DirecTV and then again on NBC).

It will be a long wait for fans of Damages for a new season, as the third season ended in April 2010 on FX.  But, beginning on January 5, the 101 Network of DirecTV will being airing re-runs of Damages' first season.  The second season's re-runs will air beginning April 6 and the third season re-runs will air beginning May 25.

I'll admit that other shows got in the way of my devotion to Damages, but the first season was a stellar example of good television, so if you haven't already watched the show and you have DirecTV, you should tune in beginning January 5.
