ABC Announces Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars Season 15
ABC confirmed widespread rumors today of a Dancing with the Stars All Stars Season 15. What does this mean exactly? It means celebrity contestants from the past 14 seasons would return for a brand new competition! Blabbermouth Extra co-host Mario Lopez, himself a former contestant, let the cat of out of the bag prematurely on Live with Kelly last week and since then tongues have been wagging and salivating at the potential all-star line up.
Mario danced (and romanced) with Karina Smirnoff, coming in second place in Season 3. Could he be one of the all-stars? Considering he knew about ABC's plans before any of the rest of us, it's a huge possibility. Whether he would be paired again with Karina raises the obvious question, would any of the all-stars be paired with their former partners? If so, what of the new pros that are really growing on viewers such as Peta Murgatroyd, Val Chmerkovskiy and Tristan MacManus? This could get complicated! And, would they pick past winners or past contestants who should have been winners? Lots to think about here. One thing Dancing with the Stars will definitely consider in their selections are previous fan favorite contestants. Celebrities that fans were passionate about would be the hook to bring in the viewers.
The pros seem excited at the prospect of bringing back former celebrities. Pro Cheryl Burke is looking forward to an all-star season because there are only so many new celebrities left to pick from (who would actually consider doing the show.) Pro Mark Ballas would like to have another go with Season 12 partner Chelsea Kane but would certainly accept one of pro Derek Hough's former partners, namely Nicole Scherzinger, winner of season 10. Another interesting choice would be current Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke, who competed and won in Season 7 with Derek. But what of her hosting duties? Not to worry, current competitor Maria Menounos, Mario's cohost on Extra, suggests they could swap roles. For the full scoop of today's announcement and the pro dishing, click here.
