Even though the far less charismatic Tom DeLay received the same score, Kathy Ireland and partner Tony Dovolani were ejected by Dancing With the Stars fans last night. Ireland is the third celeb to be eliminated this season, paving the way for a clear Donny Osmond victory. Wait, what's that you say? Aaron Carter is going to win? Says who?
Well, says Aaron Carter. It appears people are making a big fuss out of Carter's strong expression of self confidence on the "Valentine in the Morning" radio show. When asked what his prospects of winning were, Carter responded "there are no ifs, ands or buts or possibilities or chances, I'm going to win 'Dancing With the Stars.' "
The backlash from Carter's non-fans was that the former boy-band big-wig had crossed the line from confident to cocky. Carter dignified their kvetching with an even kookier defense "Honestly, I was pumping myself. I'm a big believer in positive energy."
Okay, that's all fine and dandy, but his allusions to the power of positive thinking, laws of attraction, and The Secret become stalkerific when he starts talking about the Dancing With the Stars women, particularly Chelsie Hightower. "...I just went up to her and said, 'Are you single?' " Carter said. "I'm going to leave it at that for now. I'm just going to put it out there and see what happens. ... I'm going to visualize that happening!"
Yes Aaron, she will be yours.

If this had been a sporting event and not dancing, then Aaron Carter's confidence and ambition would have been viewed as pregame "pumping up". It is done ALL the time in sports, not just by the athletes themselves, but by their coaches and others. Why is it different with Carter? Perhaps your reference to "boyband" shows your own prejudice against him and so the worst is thought of his bit in the interview. For the record, Aaron Carter was never IN a boyband-you are mistaking him for his brother, Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys. Aaron Carter was a preteen solo artist. Also very evidenct in listening to the entire interview, the interviewer went on and on about Aaron and his partner-really digging for anything that could be used to create the dirt of something happening between the two. His answers to him, and others when asked about his feelings for his partner have been as diplomatic as possible. Acknowleding that she is beautiful, but that she is off limits and they are keeping it professional. More digging by others (can interviewers think of NOTHING else to plague contestants with?) and Aaron acknowledges that he is attracted to another dancer-has approached her-and is WAITING for any feedback from her. I hardly call it stalking. But use colored language as I'm sure you must to make whatever point you want…but it seems a bit biased to me.
Nah, I think it is ridiculous that people are calling him cocky. Apologies it is not clearer.
