Tonight Dancing with the Stars celebrates the music of the1980s as the stars and pros dance a variety of dances to a variety of classic hits. Returning to their 80s groove will be The Bangles, who will perform 3 of their 80s decade hits, “Walk Like An Egyptian”, “Manic Monday” and “Eternal Flame.” This sounds like 80s night redux, as in, I think they’ve appeared on DWTS before and sang the same songs. Nothing against The Bangles, but was nobody else from the 80s available? Culture Club? Duran Duran? Bananarama?
In more exciting news, the remaining couples each take on a new dance:
- Chaz Bono & Lacey Schwimmer: Samba
- JR. Martinez & Karina Smirnoff: Samba
- Rob Kardashian & Cheryl Burke: Rumba
- Nancy Grace & Tristan MacManus: Rumba
- David Arquette & Kym Johnson: Tango
- Hope Solo & Maks Chmerkovskiy: Tango
- Carson Kressley & Anna Trebunskaya: Jive
- Ricki Lake & Derek Hough: Foxtrot
Due to the untimely eliminations of Chynna Phillips and Kristin Cavallari, there’s been an outcry about the “popular” vote meaning more than the dance skills. Some, including Chynna herself, have branded DWTS solely a popularity contest in which good dance performances don’t seem to matter. And even if you screw up or suck, a big fan base will save you. Read Chynna’s recent interview and Maks’s latest TVGuide blog for their feelings of frustration on the matter. If this is the case, and I do believe it is to a degree, does it really matter how the contestants dance tonight? Looking at the list of remaining couples, who has the smallest fan base, and is that how we can figure out who will be eliminated tomorrow? Leave your comments below.
Dancing with the Stars airs tonight Monday October 17 at 8 p.m. (ET) on ABC.
Thanks a lot for the post
