After four weeks of performance an inspirational figure, Valerie Harper, was eliminated last night on Dancing with the Stars. The former Mary Tyler Moore Show actress bowed out gracefully after a tear-inducing performance with dance pro Tristan MacManus of the Viennese Waltz to fun.’s “Carry On.”

While it was a valiant attempt, unfortunately the dance didn’t impress judges enough to keep Harper on the show. For those that don’t know, Harper has been publicly battling lung cancer. It was back in March of 2013 that doctors had given her up to three months to live. Seven months later, while she easily could have been defeated, Valerie Harper is still here, still working, and still pressing on.

According to Yahoo!, when asked again about her upbeat attitude, Valerie replied, “I have a fabulous life. I mean there’s been rough times, but I’m so blessed in so many ways that I would be so petty to be saying, ‘The world’s not going the way I want it to.'”

If only more people in this world had that attitude we’d be in a much better place. As far as Dancing with the Stars goes, it’s anyone’s guess who is going to take the title this year.
