The game is on! I haven’t been in agreement with the critics who believe that Dexter is off to a slow start this season. My opinion is that the Rita incident last season was an enormous game changer that created a knot of emotional and logistical problems that needed to be dealt with before Dexter could properly succeed. Well, the fact is neither mindset really much matters now that the season 5 story of Dexter has been let slip – with Lumen, Dexter now faces an interesting situation – one that mirrors his role as a parent in a sensationally thematic way; Dexter is now nurturer to one of his victim’s victims – a damaged young lady reborn into a dark and dangerous world, re-born in blood. Where’s it all going? Looks like Dexter Episode 5.05, “First Blood,” is where we get the demo of season 5’s psychological moire. Here’s the details, along with a few clips:
When Dexter is saddled with an unwanted conspirator, he is forced to make some hard decisions about her fate. Meanwhile, Dexter wonders if Rita’s death has awakened a darkness inside Harrison. Due to Quinn’s recent suspension, Debra works the Santa Muerte case alone, leaving Quinn time to enlist an old friend to look into Dexter.
