Default Ethan's Finger

I'm rewatching Season 1 and was somewhat surprised when paying more attention to S1E16 -- "Outlaws". When Charlie and Hurley are burying Ethan, the shot is pretty obviously showing Ethan's hand and guess what? There's only 4 fingers...

Now, we know who his parents are - he's not an immortal - so why only 4 fingers? And why make sure we see this, so early on?

Also, the comic-con video of kate states that she killed the wrong man but in the current history we know she didn't. Stangely in this episode we find out that Sawyer killed the wrong man but what if that somehow changes, he kills the right man (i.e. Locke's dad) so Locke is never paralyzed by falling out the window. Why is this important because in the season 5 finale it was suggested that Locke actually died in that "incident" and Jacob bought him back to life. So if Locke didn't "die" then, well maybe, the man in black ("Esau") can't take over his body as he did when returning to the island.

Everything in this first season is so significant and mean so much more now that we know so much more. If season 6 really does mirror season 1, nothing in any of these episodes can be overlooked...
