Doctor Who Confidential, a show that has chronicled the making of Doctor Who since it returned in 2005, has been cancelled by BBC Three, The Guardian is reporting.
With the cancellation being described as "part of the corporation’s ongoing cuts programme," BBC Three has stated that it will turn its focus to creating more original programming for the network.
The decision was that of BBC controller Zai Bennett, who had previously stated that "Budgets are tight, so we have to be sensible with the money we have.”
Doctor Who Confidential usually includes interviews with the cast and crew of the show, as well as set visits and other exclusive information. In January 2009, it was Doctor Who Confidential that revealed to us that Matt Smith would be taking over the role of the Doctor the following year.
BBC Three will air the final episode of Doctor Who Confidential, a companion piece to the series 6 finale "The Wedding of River Song" titled "When Time Froze," this Saturday, October 1. All thirteen episodes of Confidential series 6 will be released on DVD and Blu-ray with the rest of the Doctor Who season on November 21 in the UK and November 22 in the US.
