For New Doctor Who Mini-Episode, 'Death Is the Only Answer'

Doctor Who will be giving us two episodes on October 1. After "The Wedding of River Song" airs October 1, we'll be getting an extra little mini-episode.

That little episode will be a three-minute short titled "Death Is the Only Answer." According to the BBC, the script was written by "children from a school in Basingstoke after they entered a BBC Learning and Doctor Who Confidential competition earlier this year."

BBC is keeping plot details for the episode close to the chest, but did hint that the episode would deal with "a well known historical figure and a fez!" One of four monsters will be included in "Death Is the Only Answer" as well; either an Ood, Judoon, Cyberman or Weeping Angel will appear."

Star Matt Smith and showrunner Steven Moffat have both expressed enthusiasm for the script.

Unlike Doctor Who, which airs on BBC1, this little mini-episode will air on BBC Three, the same channel that airs Doctor Who Confidential. After "Let's Kill Hitler" airs in the UK on August 27, Doctor Who Confidential will document how exactly "Death Is the Only Answer" was written. The mini-episode itself will later air on October 1.

Doctor Who returns August 27 with midseries premiere "Let's Kill Hitler," on BBC1 in the UK and BBC America in the US.
