David Tennant's run as the tenth doctor is about to end. His three-series tenure will come to a close in January 2010, when the second part of "The End of Time" airs. However, fear not, you'll only have to wait a few more days for part one of the two-part finale, which will air on Christmas day in Britain, and a day later in America (the shortest delay between the UK and US airings of the show yet). The second part will air in Britain on January 1, 2010, with an as-yet unknown airdate in the U.S.
The episode will also mark the end of Russel T. Davies' time on the show. Davies, who resurrected the series and wrote many, many episodes of the four seasons thus far, will be leaving the show after this episode. The changeover will be complete with the appearance of a new doctor. The eleventh doctor, played by twenty-seven-year-old Matt Smith (of the UK series Party Animals; US viewers probably know him best as a young Ralph Fiennes in a deleted scene from In Bruges), will pop up sometime toward the end of "The End of Time," as the tenth doctor regenerates into a different form.
However, the BBC has released promotional photos for the new special, showing Tennant still portraying the Doctor. His companion will be Donna Noble's grandfather Wilfred Mott, who we've seen before multiple times throughout the fourth series. The villain of the piece will The Master, another Time Lord who last caused havoc in the series three finale.
Here's a look at the promotional photography taken from the episode.
Cant wait till it airs. It will be sad to see David Tennant to leave us. It will be the best one yet. Cant Wait!!!!! :) x
