How would you like to use your Wii remote as a sonic screwdriver? Soon, you'll be able to, because Doctor Who will be coming to Wiis everywhere. A £10 million contract has been drawn up between the BBC and Nintendo for a video game revolving around the successful British series to be made, according to The Sun.

The game, which will also appear on Nintendo DS consoles, will focus on Matt Smith as the Doctor. However, that has been really discernible about the game, which is still in conceptual stages. After all, what will gameplay be like, considering Doctor Who is mostly reliant on the Doctor's quick thinking to solve problems? After, all, Digital Spy put it best: "The main difficulty up until now has been coming up with a game idea that doesn't have a shooter element seeing as The Doctor blasting aliens left and right with guns is completely out of character."

So what would be fun in-character gameplay for the Who game? As I said before, using the Wii remote (Wiimote, for short) as a sonic screwdriver seems the obvious choice, with a point and shoot mechanism for fixing various obstacles that the Doctor encounters. But what else?

Personally, I'd love to get the opportunity to work the TARDIS controls in the game, though that is probably more easily said than done. The game should definitely have a more exploratory element to it and less of a linear storyline, to better emulate the actual series. Thus, a TARDIS console would make the gameplay rely more on the player's choices of what worlds to travel to.

I think it's quite obvious that we'll be seeing the Cybermen and the Daleks in the game, and quite possibly some of the newer villains, like the Weeping Angels (though I can't imagine how they would fit into the game, considering they only move when you're not looking).

Doctor Who previously made the trip to gaming consoles with a trading card game Doctor Who: Top Trumps (pictured), which was available on the Playstation 2, Nintendo DS, and Wii.

What would you like to see in a Doctor Who video game?

It's cool that they are doing a game. On the Wii though, utter disappointment. The other consoles would be much better for a better story, visuals and all around gameplay experience.

This isn't true. I contacted Kotaku who in turn contacted Nintendo for comment.Nintendo have said they have no idea what the sun is talking about.

something similar to Knights of the old republic – would have a selection of planets and times to choose to visit which would all link to one big story.

I imagine a game like the old King's Quest or Escape from Monkey Island games could be made out of Doctor Who. A game that revolves around puzzles, fact-finding, a bit of adventure, and a lot of humor.
