I don't know what can be done to save Dollhouse. Languishing in the ratings cesspool on Friday nights, Michael Ausiello has announced via Twitter that Dollhouse will be shelved by Fox during the all-important November sweeps period, replaced by reruns of House and Bones:
Exclusive: Hearing FOX will bench DOLLHOUSE for November sweeps and air back-to-back eps on Friday night in December.
The Futon Critic reports that Dollhouse will return in December showing two episodes per night, apparently burning off the remaining episodes.
You certainly can't blame Joss Whedon and the producers for this. They've done
a miraculous job treying to save the show, including bringing in fan favorites Ray Wise, Jamie Bamber, Keith Carradine, Alexis Denisoff, and Summer Glau to spice up the series.
Even figuring in DVR numbers probably won't be able to stop FOX from burning off the final episodes of Dollhouse in December as they've been stagnant.
Can anything be done to save Dollhouse?
Pitchforks and torches, Howey, and I am sharpening and lighting up as we speak…

See, this pisses me off. I fell away from the show briefly last year, and the last few episodes sucked me back in. I have been loving it this season…so of OF COURSE it's going to be turfed. Jeez, by Christmas I may have nothing left to watch but SPN and Vamp Diaries. I may actually have to get a life.

Yeah, this is sad, but not really a surprise. Ratings drop, viewers drop, show goes byebye.
It's sad that this happens so much to Whedon, but you'd think that he'd learn to not trust Fox any more.
